Getting a lighting layout right is about more than just picking a fitting. Our electricians consider how each room is used, the number and spacing of downlights needed for even coverage, and where task lighting, ambient lighting or feature lighting should be layered in — for example, brighter, more direct light over a kitchen bench or bathroom vanity, and softer, dimmable lighting in living and bedroom spaces.
Bathrooms and kitchens bring their own considerations, particularly around suitable fittings for areas exposed to moisture or splashing and keeping light sources clear of water outlets. Outdoors, we plan around how the space is entertained in and accessed after dark, positioning security lighting to cover entries and driveways while keeping feature and entertaining-area lighting softer and more atmospheric.
We also install architectural lighting to highlight features of a home or building, working with the existing structure to create a lighting plan that suits the property. Can you install LED lighting outdoors?
Yes. We regularly install LED lighting outdoors, including floodlights, security lighting and softer accent lighting for entertaining areas, gardens, patios and pathways. Outdoor fittings need to be suited to being exposed to the weather, and our electricians will help you choose the right fitting and position it safely and effectively.
Do LED lights really last longer than traditional bulbs?
Yes. LED lights are generally rated for a much longer working life than halogen or incandescent bulbs, so you can expect fewer replacements over time. They also run cooler, which can help reduce the strain on the fitting and surrounding materials.
Can you convert my existing lights to LED?
Yes, retrofitting existing fittings to LED is one of our most common jobs. We can usually replace old downlights, batten fittings and outdoor lights with LED equivalents, and let you know if your existing wiring or fittings need any attention as part of the upgrade.
Do you install dimmers and other lighting controls?
Yes. We install dimmer switches and other lighting controls alongside new or upgraded LED lighting, so you can adjust brightness to suit the room, the time of day or the occasion. Not all LED fittings are dimmable, so we'll confirm compatibility before installing.
